Le Cahier — the notebook — is the document folio the atelier built for the meeting, the deposition, the formal presentation, and the slow walk down a corridor before any of those. Sized for A4 documents (US Letter sits comfortably within it), it carries a single zippered organiser pocket on the inside front and a deep slip pocket on the inside back, with two pen loops set into the spine.
Cut from Baranil chèvre — Tannerie Alran's dressier goatskin, distinguished from their Sully by a smoother, more uniform grain and a slightly heavier temper. The closure is a tonal silk ribbon, hand-tied at the front. The lining is whole-hide suede in a tonal-darker finish, and the solid 18k gold maison mark is recessed at the lower right of the front face.

Baranil is the dressier goatskin in Tannerie Alran's catalogue — finer-grained than Chèvre Sully and slightly heavier in temper, the leather Alran reserves for formal small leather goods and document pieces. On a folio, where the leather flexes at the spine but rarely beyond, the heavier temper holds the line of the panel and prevents the soft buckling that lighter goatskins develop over years of desk wear. The folio will gloss along the spine and at the lower edge over the first year, and develop the deep, formal patina that distinguishes a working leather desk piece from a decorative one.
Wipe with a soft dry cloth weekly. Avoid storing the folio under heavy weight; the leather will hold any crease set against it for more than a few days. The silk ribbon may be re-knotted as needed, and may be replaced at the atelier without additional charge. Condition lightly once a year with a neutral leather balm.

Domestic shipping within the United States is sent signed, priority, and fully tracked, with insurance and signature on delivery. Overnight and 1–2 day expedited transport are available upon request, quoted at confirmation. International shipping is arranged individually and quoted at confirmation. Le Cahier is hand-built by a single artisan over the course of three working days. The lining is set, the inner organiser is stitched, the spine is rolled, the perimeter is hand-saddle-stitched, and the ribbon is set and tied — all by the same hands.
