18k Gold Mark Ships 3–5 Days Lifetime Atelier Care
A working day tote — sized for a laptop, a folded coat, and the usual run of daily things, and built for two daughters of fifteen years' use apiece. Cut from Togo full-grain pebbled calfskin, the dense Tuscan hide reserved by the major maisons for their structured day bags. Suede-lined throughout. Hand-rolled handles, solid brass feet at the base, and the solid 18k gold maison mark set into the front face.

Le Jour — the day — is the working tote the atelier built for the desk-to-train-to-desk life. Sized to take a 14-inch laptop, a folded coat, a folded scarf, the Esquisse cardholder, the Voyage pouch on a long-haul day, and the rest of the things a working week asks for. Cut from Togo full-grain pebbled calfskin — the dense Tuscan hide reserved by the major maisons for their structured day bags.

The interior is whole-hide suede, hand-stitched at the gusset and at every internal seam, with one zippered organiser pocket on one inside wall and an open slip pocket on the other. The handles are hand-rolled (not folded) for structural depth and edge-painted in three coats of tonal ink. Four solid brass feet at the base raise the bag clear of any surface it is set on, and are individually hand-set. The solid 18k gold maison mark is on the front face at the lower right; the remaining fittings are 18k gold-plated brass, hand-struck and hand-finished in the atelier.

Togo is a slow-drum vegetable-tanned full-grain calfskin produced in Tuscany — denser, slightly heavier, and more pronounced in its pebble than the calfskin worked on La Petite. It is the leather the major French houses worked their way into using for their structured day bags, and it remains the standard against which every other day-bag leather is measured. Read more in the Leather Guide.

On a tote of this scale, Togo's density is the property that matters most: it holds the shape of the panel even when the bag is empty, it resists the soft slumping that lighter calfskins develop over years of use, and it polishes deeply at the corners and along the handle-pass without thinning.

Wipe with a soft dry cloth weekly. Empty the tote when storing, and stuff lightly with acid-free tissue to retain the shape. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and water. The pebbled grain disguises minor scratches; do not attempt to sand or buff out marks. Condition lightly once a year with a neutral leather balm. The brass feet may be polished with a soft cloth as needed.

Le Jour is hand-built by a single artisan over the course of five working days. The handles are rolled in one sitting, the perimeter is stitched in one, the lining is set in one, the feet are individually set, and the bag is conditioned and finished at the close of the build.

The story of the maison's origin, including the four-pointed mark recessed into the front face, is told in Issue Nº 02 of the journal.
