A two-skin commission. The body is cut from Leder Ogawa Shell Cordovan — the densely fibered hindquarter of the horse, finished at the Ogawa tannery in Japan since 1971, where their classic polished luster meets a subtle waxy presence that asks to be touched — and the detail panels (the front pocket flap, the closure tab, the strap reinforcements) are cut from Porosus crocodile, matched in tone to the cordovan shell. Solid 18k gold mark at centre back. Adjustable straps in cordovan, fully suede-lined interior, with a padded laptop sleeve in Zermatt® calf.

Le Miyamoto — named for the swordsman who refused all but one school — is the maison's first backpack and the only one in the Spring/Summer 2026 collection. It pairs the densest leather the maison works with (Shell Cordovan) against the finest exotic skin the maison works with (Porosus Crocodile), and lets neither overpower the other.

Cordovan, when worked correctly, develops the rolling shine of polished metal; Porosus, when worked correctly, develops the dimensional depth of a polished stone. Set against each other in the same piece, each pulls the other into balance. The backpack is built around a single internal structural panel that holds shape under load — the cordovan body never sags, even when fully packed — and every external seam is hand-saddle-stitched at 9 SPI in waxed linen.

Shell Cordovan is finished at Leder Ogawa in Japan, where the house has been tanning shell since 1971. The shell — the dense, fibrous hindquarter sheet that lies beneath the hide — is the only part of the horse that produces this leather, which is why a single hide yields only two shells. Ogawa's process sits between the pure mirror of Shinki and the traditional wax of European cordovans: a polished luster carrying a subtle waxy presence in the hand. Le Miyamoto uses one shell per piece, cut to put the densest fibres at the points of greatest wear. Read more about Leder Ogawa Shell Cordovan in the Leather Compendium · Legendary tier.

The Porosus detail panels are cut from the same CITES-certified saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) as the maison's Souveraine line. Read more about Porosus in the Ultra Rare tier.

The maison mark on Le Miyamoto is solid 18k gold, set into the outer back panel where it sits between the wearer's shoulder blades. The D-rings, adjuster sliders, and feet are gold-plated solid brass at a 2.5 micron specification. The plated brass elements are warranted against tarnish for ten years; the gold mark is warranted indefinitely.

Cordovan deepens dramatically with wear. Brush gently with a horsehair brush after each carry to keep the surface bright. Cordovan-specific cream (the atelier supplies one with each piece) once or twice per year. The Porosus details should be wiped with a dry cloth only — never wet. Store the backpack standing upright, in the included dust bag, with the maison's stuffer pillow in place to hold shape.

Le Miyamoto is cut, stitched, and finished entirely at the atelier in the United States. The cordovan is sourced from Leder Ogawa in Japan, the Porosus from a single CITES-licensed tannery the maison has worked with since opening, and the gold is set by the maison's bench-jeweller. Production is limited to twelve pieces per year.

The story of the maison's origin, including the four-pointed mark that gives the house its name, is told in Issue Nº 02 of the journal.
