L'Officier — the officer's case, drawn from the disciplined kit of the field officer who must travel with everything in its appointed place — is the maison's instrument case. It is built for the carry that is structured, not soft: the case the owner travels with when the contents must arrive in the exact arrangement they left. A flat-bottomed, hard-sided silhouette in Odessa Togo, fastened with two flush brass-plated 18k gold catches and a centred maison mark struck in solid 18k gold.
The interior is the considered part. The case opens flat and the entire visible surface is Buttero — not lining cloth, not flocked velvet, but full-grain Tuscan calf, dyed through and finished as the working surface of the case. A single removable panel rests inside the body. Its top face is finished Buttero. Its underside carries a discreet hook-and-loop field, allowing the maison's modular inserts (sleeve cuffs, divider straps, instrument cradles) to be set wherever the contents require, then re-set when the contents change. The panel itself can be lifted out entirely, leaving the case as a single open compartment.
Available in two sizes: PM (Petit Modèle) for the everyday voyage, and GM (Grand Modèle) for the more substantial commission. Both share the same construction; only the proportions differ.

The interior panel is the case's working geometry. The face presented to the contents is finished Buttero. The reverse — the side that meets the case floor — carries a discreet hook-and-loop field, sewn in at the seam and edge-burnished so it reads as part of the lining, not as an interruption. The maison supplies a starter set of modular inserts with each commission: two padded sleeves, two adjustable straps, and one divider cuff. Each carries a matching field on its underside and is wrapped in the same Buttero. The owner arranges the inserts to suit the contents — instruments, optics, cameras, components, archive papers — then closes the case knowing the arrangement will not shift in transit.
Custom inserts can be commissioned through the atelier. Geometry, padding density, and shape are specified in private consultation; lead time is six to eight weeks.
The shell is Weinheimer Odessa Togo, the chrome-tanned, naturally shrunken calfskin from Alpine-raised hides where one hide can lose up to 40% of its size in the shrinking process. The result is a deep, irreproducible perpendicular grain that runs down the centre of the back. There is no embossing. There is no shortcut.
The lining is Buttero by Conceria Walpier — vegetable-tanned in Tuscany using the slow pit method that has changed little in eight hundred years. Buttero is dense, firm, and develops one of the most expressive patinas of any leather in regular use; chosen here because the lining is treated as a working surface and must perform in the same register as the shell. The two flush catches that close the case are cast in solid brass and electroplated in 18k gold to a 2.5 micron specification — heavy enough to carry the closing tension, finished smooth enough to read as continuous with the leather. The four feet on the case bottom are the same brass-plated solid stock. The maison mark on the top face is solid 18k gold, set into a recessed bezel in the leather. All visible seams are saddle-stitched by hand at 9 SPI in Fil au Chinois · Lin Cable, hand-waxed at the bench.
Togo accepts wear gracefully. Wipe with a dry cloth after travel. Buttero, the interior, will darken with use — this is intended; the patina is part of the case's life. For deeper conditioning, a single application of a neutral cream once or twice per year is sufficient. Avoid prolonged contact with water on either leather.

L'Officier is cut, stitched, and finished entirely at the atelier in the United States. The Togo is sourced from Weinheimer in Germany; the Buttero from Conceria Walpier in Tuscany. The interior panels are wrapped, foamed, and field-mounted at the studio, where each modular insert is matched to its parent case before the piece is sealed and shipped.
