A bracelet built around a single sliding knot — the lashing once used to bind the spine of a hand-stitched journal, redrawn for the wrist. Two cords of hand-rolled Chèvre Sully goatskin, slipped through a four-way knot whose tension lets the wearer set the fit by hand. The solid 18k gold mark is struck flat into the running cord, where it touches the inside of the wrist.

Le Nœud — the knot — is the simplest object in the capsule, and one we worked the longest to refine. The hand-rolled Chèvre Sully cord is paired with a sliding-knot closure (a four-way slip-knot, adapted from a traditional bookbinder's lashing) that lets the wearer set the fit precisely without hardware, clasps, or magnets.

Chèvre Sully is a chrome- and vegetable-tanned goatskin from Tannerie Alran in southern France, used by the major Parisian maisons for their flagship small leather goods. It is fine-grained, supple, and improves dramatically with the friction of skin. The solid 18k gold mark is struck flat into the running cord at the inside of the wrist, where it warms against the skin and is rarely seen by anyone but the wearer.

Chèvre Sully is the chrome-vegetable combination goatskin produced by Tannerie Alran in Mazamet, southern France — used by the major Parisian maisons for their flagship small leather goods. Its grain is finer than any calfskin, and its temper is supple where calfskin is rigid; on a cord this size, that supple temper is what allows the sliding knot to glide rather than catch.

The cords are rolled by hand around a fine cotton core, then stitched closed along their length. They will compact and darken at the points the bracelet rests against the wrist, developing a quiet, personal patina the wearer will recognise long before anyone else does. Read more about Chèvre Sully in the Leather Guide.

Goatskin cord prefers to be left alone. Wipe with a soft dry cloth as needed. Avoid prolonged contact with perfume, hand sanitiser, and sunscreen, all of which can dry the leather at the surface; if any reach the bracelet, blot dry immediately. Do not condition; the leather is built to draw oils from the skin.

All ATELIER ZEN-Ō pieces carry a lifetime atelier care guarantee. Re-knotting, re-conditioning, and re-rolling of the cord are performed at the studio at no additional cost for the original owner. Inquire at info@atelierzeno.com.

Each piece leaves the atelier in a presentation that is itself a small piece of work — assembled by hand, sealed by hand, and intended to be kept by the owner alongside the piece it carries.

Each Le Nœud bracelet is rolled, knotted, and finished by a single artisan. Production is intentionally slow — the cord rolling alone takes a full day before the knot is set.

The story of the maison's origin, including the four-pointed mark struck into the cord, is told in Issue Nº 02 of the journal.
