18k Gold Mark Ships 3–5 Days Lifetime Atelier Care
A slim cardholder cut from full-grain Conceria Walpier Buttero veg-tan — the kind of leather that arrives matte and unhurried, and matures, over years of pocket use, into a deep mirror sheen. Four card slots, a centre billfold for folded notes, and the solid 18k gold mark recessed at the lower edge. Hand-saddle-stitched in tonal linen thread. Finished with edge ink and burnished by hand.

L'Esquisse — the sketch — is the cardholder we draw first, and finish last. It is the smallest piece in the Prêt-à-Porter capsule, and the one most likely to be carried every day for a decade.

Cut from a single panel of Conceria Walpier Buttero veg-tan full-grain, with the grain running long-side so the central spine flexes against the body of the wallet rather than across it. Four card slots, sized for European-format cards (which accommodate American formats with a small margin). A centre billfold accepts folded notes or a single folded receipt. The solid 18k gold mark is set into the lower right corner of the inside spine — visible only when the wallet is open, as the maison prefers it.

Conceria Walpier Buttero is a vegetable-tanned full-grain calfskin produced by Conceria Walpier in Tuscany — a small tannery that has resisted, for four generations, the modernizations that would make their leather quicker, cheaper, and in our view, less alive. Buttero is drum-rolled rather than pressed, which gives it the soft, slightly textured surface that responds to the patina-forming oils of the hand. Read more about Buttero and the Elite tier in the Leather Guide.

Because Buttero is full-grain, the surface is the original outer skin of the hide — neither sanded nor coated. It will scratch in the first weeks. It will, by the end of the first year, have absorbed those scratches into a depth and sheen that the unworn leather did not possess. More on full-grain anatomy here.

Vegetable-tanned full-grain leather requires very little care. Wipe with a soft dry cloth weekly. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which will darken the leather (this is sometimes wanted, sometimes not — the choice is yours). Store flat or stuffed when not in use. Do not condition more than once or twice a year; over-conditioning is the most common cause of leather failure in a piece like this.

All ATELIER ZEN-Ō pieces carry a lifetime atelier care guarantee. Re-stitching, edge re-finishing, and re-conditioning are performed at the studio at no additional cost for the original owner. Inquire at atelier@zeno-s.com.

Complimentary courier dispatch within the United States, with insurance and signature on delivery. International shipping by FedEx Priority — quoted at confirmation. Each piece ships in its hand-numbered cotton-flannel pouch and outer presentation case.

Returns accepted within 14 days of delivery on Prêt-à-Porter pieces, in unworn condition. Exotic-leather pieces (Le Crocodile, La Souveraine) and commission pieces are non-returnable but covered by the lifetime atelier care guarantee. For inquiries, write to info@zeno-s.com.

ATELIER ZEN-Ō is a small leather house. Each Prêt-à-Porter piece is built by a single artisan, beginning to end — cut, edge, stitch, finish — without division of labour, in a working atelier in the United States. Production is intentionally slow.

The story of the maison's origin, including the four-pointed mark that appears on every piece, is told in Issue Nº 02 of the journal.
